When: Tues, Sept. 24, After the meeting
Duration: Min. 40 min, Estimated: 60-120 min
Think fast!
Hi, I’m mantisek. Many of you already know me, but if you don’t, I’ve been a distant member of Decentrala for almost a year now, and a member of PentestSec for 6+ years.
I am here in Serbia for Balccon 2024, and now that that’s done, I have a fun quick CTF to host for everyone.
What you need to know:
Information about the CTF is intentionally withheld. This CTF will test your ability to take control of a hackable IOT device quickly with limited information or preparation.
Time: After the meeting
Duration: Until its done. Min. 40 minutes. Estimated: 90-120 minutes.
What you need to bring:
A laptop with the ability to connect to Wi-fi and a good spirit.
Victory condition:
Modified King of the Hill
Victory is achieved by proving control over the device via a behavior that will be explained verbally at the beginning of the ctf.
The first person to control the target device is the ‘First King of the Hill’. Once that happens, a ‘Sudden Death’ period of 30 minutes begins. Whoever can maintain control over the device (with proof) for 5 consecutive minutes, is crowned the victor and wins the prize.
If no one can maintain control over the device for 5 consecutive minutes, the winner will be the first person who attained control over the device.
So basically, being first is good, but being thorough can usurp the first player.
